In March 2018, Flensby & Partners Norway organised a breakfast seminar under the heading: “Frequent changes in technology, business models and competition increase the need for fast paced response and change. How can agile leadership contribute to successful growth and transformation in this setting?”.

To explore this further, we had the pleasure of introducing two exciting cases with a different angle, but with some common learnings regarding critical leadership competencies.

Hanne Sannes-Moe, former COO and Head of the Supervisory Board at Brødboksen, shared her experience with the challenges a digital high growth start-up might face in designing a scalable organisation.

Marius Olsen, Head of Product Strategy Office, Schibsted Media Group, shared his experience with leadership challenges when a company with an established business model needs to go through disruption to stay competitive.

Key learning from both cases is the importance of:

  • scalability of the operation and the organisation
  • open mindsets to establish eco-systems with partners
  • the ability to adapt fast to changing conditions.
  • Successful transformation is very much about agility, the leadership model and how decision-making “licenses” are distributed in an organisation.
